KAYAKING THE LENGTH OF LAKE ONTARIO
Picture
Picture
Mario Rigby is committed to pushing the boundaries and limits of adventure travel with his expeditions.  This summer to promote domestic and sustainable travel he will be taking his community on a journey to explore the beauty of our great country, Canada through a kayaking expedition that will go the length of Lake Ontario.  This adventure will begin in Burlington and finish at the Thousand Islands completing 355 kilometres of paddling.

During this unprecedented time Mario also wants to raise conversations around inclusivity and diversity in outdoor spaces.  He will be engaging youth who don’t readily have access to outdoor spaces by raising funds for a local charity, My Stand. My Stand provides youth in Toronto with mentorship and leadership training. Mario’s goal is to use his platform to inspire and teach young people how to overcome obstacles. This will include education on the importance of sustainable and responsible travel as well as engaging the outdoors as a tool for wellbeing and healing.

Lake Background
Lake Ontario, the smallest of the five Great Lakes in North America, straddles the U.S. and Canadian border. Niagara Falls is at one end of the lake, which measures approximately 310 kilometres by 85 kilometres. The cities of Toronto and Hamilton on the Canadian side lie along the edge of the lake. It's one of the most beautiful landscapes in Ontario as you travel from east to the west.
