In this day and age it is now more important than ever to live a healthy and fit lifestyle. We are just coming out of a recession, fast food cravings and frozen dinners are mainstream so it’s no wonder children are dying 10 years younger than their parents. By preventing health risks we can focus on other important issues such as environmental sustainability as opposed to treatments for cardiovascular related diseases to ensure a long and healthy life.

Fad diets and weight loss gimmicks are a billion dollar industry only to promote hopes for those who want to look and feel great. Unfortunately most of those hopeful consumers will not see any lasting results, forcing them to believe that there is no hope but to continue living unhealthily.

Why are consumers spending reckless amounts of money and time on these “hot commodities”? Simply put, there is not enough education available to address these most important aspects of a person’s life. There is not enough education or enough programs out there to teach children how to sustain a fit and healthy lifestyle to carry them into their adult lives.

My job as a professional is to educate you in how to live a fun, fit and healthy lifestyle that suits you best. A healthy lifestyle does not require the rigors of hard work in the gym or the restriction of super strict diets. I will show you 10 basic essential principles to help permanently enhance your life so you can feel your best and look your best all the time.

  1. Portion Size Reduce your meal portion sizes and spread them more throughout the day in order to provide a consistent flow of energy. For examples eat 4 to 5 meals a day verses your traditional 3 per day.
  2. Processed Food Put an X to processed foods like cookies, biscuits and anything packaged. Remember eat the ingredient don’t eat a package full of ingredients.
  3. Sugar Cut the sugars in your diet. This will prevent the highs and lows you feel throughout the day. It can be as easy as drinking water over juice.
  4. Fats It’s the type of fats that matter in addition to how much you consume. Reducing your intake of some types of fats such as trans fats reduces the risk of several chronic diseases, but other types of fats like omega 3, fish oils and olive oils are absolutely essential to your health.
  5. Veggies & Fruits Eat a hand full of vegetables and fruits each day. They are filled with nutrients that are essential to your body’s needs.
  6. Water Consume more water throughout the entire day-about 2 – 3 Liters or 6 to 8 cups.
  7. Activity Find something active to do, whether playing tennis on the weekends or gardening in the lawn. If you are too busy for the gym try parking further away from your work or take the stairs instead of the elevator. Ultimately any activity will help burn those extra calories.
  8. Mimic Hang out with friends that live fun, active, healthy lifestyles. You will most likely become more like the people you hang out with, this in turn will make you more accountable for yourself.
  9. Friends & Family Involve your friends and family into your new way of life. This will encourage them and yourself to keep living healthier lives.
  10. Sleep Sleep and rest more often. Adequate sleep is vital to your overall health and well being, people with less than 6 – 7 of hours sleep are at higher risk of developing diseases.
  11. Please consult with your health-care professional before making any significant changes to your diet or physical fitness regime.
